Unsought Wisdom Series. Episode 4. মায়ের দোয়া

A mother is the first boss you deal with. Your way of navigating this ends up shaping all of your future dealing with authority.

It is an often repeated quote in our society that if you have blessings from your mother, nothing can stop you. And if you're not in good terms with your mother, you are less likely to succeed. A growing body of research also supports this narrative, with uber-successful anecdotes that illustrate how mothers play a vital role in shaping the child's life.

Other than the mystic power of prayers and blessings though, I think there is a simpler thing to consider here. And I narrow it down to the simple capacity of dealing with "authority". A mother is the first boss for a child. There is reward and performance. If someone doesn't learn how to deal with that, they may always face trouble relating to people who have power over them, and navigating it in a way to focus on win-win.

Even the topmost CEOs need to appease the board members. The best entrepreneurs need to retain big investors. So you will likely never run out of authority figures to deal with. And it pays dividends if one learns this at home. Hopefully, it is never too late to mend bridges with your mother, earn her blessings and be on your way.
