When texting senior colleagues on WhatsApp, follow these tips for clear, efficient communication:
  • Ask precise questions: Aim for simple yes/no or specific answers (e.g., number/date). Avoid open-ended questions, as seniors may not have time for lengthy text exchanges.
  • Organize multiple topics: Into one message using (a, b, c) with line breaks. This allows quick replies like "a. Yes, b. Sunday."
  • Choose the right medium: For complex topics, send a voice note for nuance or request a call slot instead of texting.
  • Mind social norms: When tagging in groups, WhatsApp displays names as saved by others. In places like Bangladesh, include respectful suffixes (e.g., bhai/apa) in the text, even if your tag already has it.
  • Be prepared: Do your homework and gather all necessary details before texting to show thoroughness.
