Neil Gaiman says these are the 3 most important strings in the job market

There are just 3 important strings that pull you up in the job market. According to Neil Gaiman (author of Sandman, American Gods).
These are:
  1. Quality: Your work is good.
  2. Discipline: You deliver it on time.
  3. Feel: You are easy to get along with.
And he says ensuring only 2 of the strings can be sufficient for survival:
"People will tolerate how unpleasant you are if your work is good and you deliver it on time. They’ll forgive the lateness of the work if it’s good, and if they like you. And you don’t have to be as good as the others if you’re on time and it’s always a pleasure to hear from you."

I found out that if you are GREAT in one aspect out of the three, it can often be enough to survive for a very long time in any job. While to take the time to focus where you are lacking.

If you are not sure where to start: focus on 1 and 2, quality and discipline, first.
