Gamification

Gamification was a hype word I remember from 2012 and now it seems no longer in style - at least according to Bangladesh's google trends.

It is simply the introduction of scores and ranking in different areas to guide behavior.

The introduction of scores, ranking, etc. in regular activity has always been there. School ranking, job ranking, even heavens have ranking.

We feel the push to move towards higher ranks, even at the expense of other non-ranked things. Because being low ranked has an innate shame attached to it that is somehow hardwired to our brains.

We are counting our salary, our tours, likes, shares, but a lot of things are not yet gamified, and falling behind in our mind-space.

Our well-being isn't ranked, the number of good real conversations we are having in a week is not ranked, the relationship with family is not put against others - anywhere.

Every month, we are not doing a performance assessment of our heart, soul fulfillment or mental nourishment.

We are winning the games, but missing the real play perhaps?
