The Sad Prince

The prince now knew— nothing could save his ailing heart, not even the blood from the heart of a virgin beauty. It only knew sorrow and anguish. It only thought of despair and helplessness. Where amidst this all, one can hope to find a glimmer? Not in the presence of a loved one, not in the precinct of a waterfall, nothing; so he went on to look inside, deep within.

And there deep inside his heart, hidden in a narrow corner, he found a drop of crystal water, a flicker of light shining inside of it. He observed carefully to realize it was his own name written in light. “YOU are the light that your soul awaits; YOU are everything you will ever want. Within you there is life, death, love and despair. Just hold onto yourself and believe— believe.” His eyes were blinded by the light from within. It hurt, and he knew this light was not meant to be kept inside. So he opened up his chest and saw the stars fade away— feeling shy in comparison to all the hopes and dreams and power he held buried deep.
